GE1069 Germanium Metal (Ge Metal) Description

Description of Germanium Metal

Germanium is a lustrous, grayish-white metalloid in the carbon group, with physical properties resembling those of tin and silicon. It readily reacts with oxygen to form complexes and is too reactive to occur naturally in its native state. Ultra-high purity germanium is typically obtained through zone refining and is widely used as a semiconductor material.

Applications of Germanium Metal

Germanium Metal is commonly used in the production of rectifiers, transistors, and weapons-sighting systems. It also serves as a fluorescent material, an alloying agent, and a catalyst in plastic manufacturing.

Packaging of Germanium Metal

Our Germanium Metals are clearly tagged and labeled externally to ensure efficient identification and quality control. Great care is taken to avoid any damage which might be caused during storage or transportation.

Germanium Metal FAQs

Is Germanium a semiconductor?
